Bantwal: GP member verbally abused - Panjikallu zone Congress, villagers stage protests

Bantwal, Jan 6: Panjikallu zone Congress and villagers staged protests in front of Panjikallu gram panchayat alleging atrocities against Congress supported female gram panchayat member Malati by Panjikallu gram panchayat president Sajiva Poojary. It is alleged that expletives were hurled at Malati, the member who participated in the protests against tarring of road at Panjikallu stating that it is bad for health, said the protesters.

Former taluk panchayat president Sudarshan Jain who led the protests said that the footage of the insult to Malati is captured in CCTV camera. The police should take legal action against the guilty, he said.

The tarring was permitted only recently after obtaining lacs of rupees for it, he said.

Bantwal block congress president Baby Kunder said that a case should be registered against Panjikallu gram panchayat president Sanjiva Poojary and he should be arrested. Mass protests will be held otherwise, he said.

Devappa Kulal, Padmavati B Poojary, Vasanth Sornadu, Dayananda Gowda, Sadananda Shetty, Dinesh Shetty, Mohan Shetty, Suresh Jora, Ravi R Poojary, Rajesh Gowda, Victor Pais, Krishnaraj Jain, Krishnappa Kulal and others were present.
