Mangaluru/Shivamogga, Jan 7: It has come to light that engineering student Rishan Tajuddin Sheikh and Huzair Farhan Baig arrested by NIA for possible involvement in ISIS activities were receiving funds from ISIS through crypto currency wallets.
The accused hatched plot to extend ISIS activities in India by receiving funds from a convener of the banned ISIS organization. They had plans to blow up vehicles, organizations, liquor shops, godowns and transformers, it is said.
NIA conducted raids on Thursday at Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Udupi, Davanagere and Bengaluru. Rishan is a student of a private engineering college in Konaje. He is an accomplice of Maz Munir, who is already in NIA custody. Maz Munir was also a student of the same college earlier. NIA sleuths informed that Muneer influenced Rishan through his fundamentalis ideals. Huzair Farhan is a resident of Tipu Sultan Nagar in Shivamogga. NIA has confiscated digital equipment and complimentary records from the houses of the accused.
Meanwhile, NIA also arrested Nadeem of Honnali town of Shivamogga in connection with the trial bomb blast that was carried out on the banks of Tunga river. He was in touch with the mastermind of the blast. Nadeem is also an engineering student, who resides within a stone’s throw from Honnali police station. His laptop and mobile phone have been confiscated by NIA sleuths, it is gathered.
The locals in Varamballi Brahmavar where Rishan used to come during holidays and weekends, said that he used to be confined inside the apartment only and was not venturing out. He used to spend time only with the youths of the apartment building and did not mingle much with locals.
