Udupi: Man fleeced of over Rs 2 lacs by online fraudster

Udupi, Jan 7: A complaint has been filed at Cyber Cell's Economic Offences and Narcotics Crime police station after a man lost Rs 2,13,999 between December 25 to December 27, 2022.

As per the complainant, Chitrang Juniwal aged 21, received a call from an unknown person claiming that his father had given the number. The caller also said that by mistake he had deposited Rs 25,000 to the account via PAYTM and asked him to repay it.

Chitrang Juniwal believed the caller and paid him Rs 24,500. But the caller repeatedly called the complainant claiming that the money had not been credited back to his account and the complainant transferred a total of Rs 2,13,999 between December 25 to December 27 and cheated the complainant.

A case has been filed at CEN police station under the section 66(D) IT act.
