Mangalore, May 29: Many followers of Mata Amritanandamayi took up the cleanliness drive at Hampanakatta area here on Sunday May 29 morning after the first drive in the beginning of May at the central market area. The drive was undertaken in association with the Mangalore City Corporation.

They picked up the discarded wastes, plastics and other trash from the area in Hampanakatta circle surroundings.

The volunteers were seen wearing gloves. Some officials of the MCC were also present on the spot.

The cleanliness drive comes close on the heals of the “Save our beach” campaign launched by the district administration here, recently. Two month ago people had participated in a “shramadan” campaign launched by the district administration.
