Bengaluru, Jan 10: With just couple of months to go for the assembly polls in the State, the opposition Congress party will be launching its bus yatra, named as Prajadhwani (voice of people), from Gandhibhavi or the well where Mahatma Gandhi assumed the presidentship of the AICC session in Belagavi, after paying homage to the father of the nation on Wednesday.
Addressing a joint news conference, KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar and party’s opposition leaders in legislature Siddaramaiah and B K Hariprasad as well as other State party leaders at the Congress office in Bengaluru on Tuesday, said the Prajadhwani Yatra marks the Congress party’s march towards victory in the polls and usher in change.
The Congress leaders said Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom struggle to throw out the British. “We are staring our journey towards electoral victory and throw out the corrupt and communal BJP from the state,” they said.
The Congress leaders attacked the BJP rule at the Centre and in the State and pointed out that the double-engine government had totally failed the people. Corruption is rampant in the State. The BJP had made 600 poll promises of which not even 550 have been fulfilled. The party came to power through the backdoor even though it could win just 104 out of the 224 seats in the 2018 assembly polls, they said mentioning that 2 lac contractors have risen in revolt against the 40% commission in government contracts while youth are suffering due to lack of jobs.
The Congress leaders said the party has started a website, prajadhwani.com, which can be used for giving suggestions or by calling 9537224224.
Answering questions, they said the party is hopeful of releasing the first list of the party candidates after the Makara Sankranti festival.
