Bantwal: 160th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda held

Bantwal, Jan 12: “Today’s young generation is spending more time in social media and failing to reach its aim and realized its potential. We have to install the thinking, nationalism and humanity preached by Swami Vivekananda,” said history lecturer of Sri Rama degree college Yatiraj.

Yatiraj gave the discourse on the 160th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda that was held at the Vedavyasa Dhyana Mandira of Kalladka Sri Rama higher primary school.

Yatiraj further said, “Only when we inculcate the messages of Swami Vivekananda in us and work as the activities of his messages, this anniversary celebration becomes fruitful.”

Floral tributes were offered to the portraits of Bharath Matha and Swami Vivekananda.

Sixth grade student Vaishnavi Kadya explained the childhood of Swami Vivekananda, how he got changed from Narendra to Vivekananda, his biography and achievements.

During the programme 343 students from first to seventh grade donned the attire of Vivekananda and stood on the dais and said one Amritvachan each.

Girl students sang song about Vivekananda. Srivatsa of seventh grade gave background tabla music support.

Teachers of the institution Sumanth Alva Maruvala, Annapoorna N Bhat and Roopakala M were present.
