Bengaluru, Jan 13: With a view to promote women power and empower them, the state government is making arrangements to provide marketing facilities to products manufactured by women through marketing companies like Amazon and Flipkart with due publicity and branding, said higher education minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan in Bengaluru on Friday.

Dr Narayan, who is also heading skill development, was speaking at the Mallewaram Skill Development Centre after distributing certificates to women who had completed Skill Development programme under the joint auspices of the Sadasmitha Foundation, headed by former Union Minister D V Sadanananda Gowda’s wife Dotty Sadananda Gowda, and the Dr C N Ashwath Narayan Foundation.

The minister said US-based Amazon Company has promised to provide marketing arrangements worth Rs 70,000 crore and urged rural women to take advantage of the skill development initiatives and become self-reliant.

Dr Narayan said the women were blessed with enormous talents and must come forward to utilize the opportunities to make use of them for productive purposes. The State and Central governments were providing financial support for this initiative, he said.

The minister said the offer of providing three-month-long skill development training by the Sadasmitha Foundation was a very laudable initiative. The government wants to empower and make the women self-reliant, he said.

BJP MP D V Sadanananda Gowda, his wife Dotty Sadananda Gowda, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan Foundation’s Managing Trustee Dr Vaudev, Sadasmitha Foundation Chairman D V Shivanna, BJP Leaders Kaveri Kedaranath, Sowmya and others were present.
