Kundapur: Makara Sankramana celebrated at Maranakatte temple

Kundapur, Jan 14: Makara Sankramana festival and annual Gende Seve fair were held at the historic Brahmalingeshwara temple, Maranakatte, said to be established by Adi Shankeracharya. Thousands of devotees from Udupi, Mangaluru and across the state arrived for the event.

Religious rituals have been held since the morning on January 14. Devotees obtained the darshan of the deity and offered flowers, fruits and vegetables.

MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, temple trustee Sadashiva Shetty, Karnataka Rajyotsava award recipient, entrepreneur Krishnamurthi Manja, former MLA K Gopal Poojary, Kollur Mookambika temple managing committee member Dr Atulkumar Shetty, former member Vadamballi Jayarama Shetty, Raghurama Shetty and temple priests were present. The Gende Seve will be held at night.
