Udupi: 15,000 students take part in ‘Yogathan’ event in Manipal

Udupi, Jan 16: MLA Raghupati Bhat said that Yoga, which is helpful to lead a healthy life, has got world recognition now. It is possible to get good health by doing yoga every day.

Bhat was speaking at the ‘Yogathan’ that was held at End Point Manipal organized by district administration, zilla panchayat, youth empowerment, Dr G Shankar family trust and sport department and MAHE.

Bhat further said, “World Health organization has declared June 21 as world Yoga Day thereby giving world recognition to Yoga practice. It is a good tool to ward off the pressures of life. Everyone should do yoga every day to lead a healthy life.”

Deputy commissioner M Kurma Rao welcomed the gathering. Deputy director of youth empowerment and sports department Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty compered the event and rendered vote of thanks.

Zilla panchayat CEO Prasanna H, SP Akshay Hake Machhindra, additional DC Veena B N, DDPI Ganapati, deputy director of Kannada and culture department Poornima, Colonel Prakash of MAHE and Dr Vinod were present.

More than 1,500 students took part in the ‘Yogathan’ and scores of public also participated and did various Yoga poses.
