Kaup: Billawa leader crossing road killed by speeding car

Kaup, Jan 17: Leader of Billawa community, honorary president of Muloor Brahmashree Narayana Guru Seva Sangha and entrepreneur in Mumbai Balakrishna G Kotian (60), who was grievously injured as a car hit him on the evening of Sunday while crossing road in front of Billavara Sangha Muloor on NH 66, succumbed on Monday.

Balakrishna, son of late Giriya Poojary, senior entrepreneur, religious and social leader of Mumbai, had come to Muloor two days ago. He had gone to a shop near the Billawa Sangha and was returning home after crossing the road. A car that was moving from Mangaluru to Udupi knocked him down.

Balakrishna, who received serious injuries on his head was admitted to private hospital in Udupi. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday. He is survived by wife and daughter.

Kaup police have visited the spot and are investigating further.
