Mangaluru: Foot overbridge, fountain inaugurated at Kadri Park

Mangaluru Jan 23: MLA Vedavyas Kamath inaugurated the foot overbridge above water and fountain here at Kadri Park on Monday, January 23 and development works under Mangaluru Urban Development Authority.

Foot overbridge above water was built at a cost Rs 43.50 lacs and the fountain at Rs 47.50 lacs.

The two projects have been inaugurated at Kadri park and the outline has been formed for many more such projects at Kadri Park.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, "A proposal has been sent to the government for development work on the ponds at a cost of Rs 30 crore at Mangaluru North and South constituencies and we are expecting that the funds will be released anytime soon."

A plan was chalked out for developing 25 ponds among which work on 12 have been completed, said Vedavyas Kamath.

MUDA chairman Ravi Shankar Mijar said, "Priority has been given to develop Kadri Park under MUDA. The entrance and road leading to Kadri Park have been developed. At the same time a fountain and foot overbridge were developed at Kadri Park. Priority has also been given to develop 40 parks in Mangaluru North and 30 in Mangaluru South."

Mayor Jayanand Anchan, deputy mayor Poornima, former mayor Premananda Shetty, corporator Shakeela Kava, Kishore Kottari, Hemalatha Raghu Salian, Sudheer Shetty Kannur, Pooja Pai, Nithin Kumar and others were present.

    There are many life saving thinges you can do in mangalore. First & formost see that potholes are filled & roads are safe There is no space for footpath or its not safe See that there is safe drinking water facility in city Also clean & neat bus stop. All useless thinges are done & after a year only name plates are there & all the thinges spoilet without maintenence

    Vedavyas Kamath ji , You are leading the development of kodial in a phenomenal way reforming progress is also great may be many names and changes we will get to see in beginning of 2024 form a strong and trained working staffs for waste management mainly its ground staff corporation working system is slowly changing , hope we will get to see good new tech equipped vehicles on road for cleaning and carrying ....

    There are more names on the inauguration plaque than there is water in the pond. The pond/ fountain will bite the dust within the month

    I see this pond since almost a year... The water in the pond is polluted with dirt and mud. .. Yes agree that the fountain is new ! Hope this will be maintained on regular basis. Meanwhile let the MUDA take initiative to brighten the whole park with more lights as lot of families and ladies walk there ....

    This is an old pond and bridge with a fountain developed by the forest department lying idle for 20 years. The MLA and MUDA dusted, dressed, and painted it and put up a board showing it as a new project. There is a musical fountain in the Deer park next door developed 5 years back. But because of political tug-of-war, it is getting rusted.
