Kundapur, Jan 26: “Republic Day is a great day, on which Fundamental rights, duties that put sound foundation to the existence of India came into existence,” said assistant commissioner (AC) Raju.

Raju was speaking after hoisting the flat at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day celebration.

Raju further said, “The power of people electing their own government through the system of democracy is a proof to the far sightedness of our elders. Our country is proud holder of the biggest constitution in the world that was drafted under great leaders and thinkers like Dr B R Ambedkar and Dr Babu Rajendra Prasad. The constitution is the real foundation in order to fulfil all the needs of peace, development and growth.”

Attractive march past was done by students of various school. Kundapur police also presented parade. Five of Kundapur taluk and three of Byndoor taluk were conferred best agriculturists award. Three were felicitated with Grama One Franchisee honour and laptop was distributed to selected students.

DySP Belliappa, taluk panchayat CEO Mahesh Kumar, zonal education officer Kantaraju, chief of town municipality Manujanth and tahsildar Kiran G Gowraiah were present.
