Mangaluru, Jan 26: The Dada Saheb Phalke Icon Award Film Organization has presented Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj award to Dr M Sayyed Nazir, a resident of Puttur, entrepreneur in Mangaluru, international expert in inland fishing, growth of fishing breeds, advisor in perfumes and scientist.

The award was presented to him in a programme held at Chinmaya Mission auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi in the presence of union ministers, MPs and other dignitaries.

Union minister Ramadas Aravale, Rameshwara Teli, Faggan Singh Kulasthe, Kailas Choudhuri, Jammu Kashmir Wakf board president Dr Darakshan Andrabi, MP S P Singh Bagel, Sunita Rajhans, Arjunlal Meena, Chandra Prakash Joshi, Girishchandra, Prince Raj, Sunil Gaekwad, Bollywood actor Adil Khan Durani and others were present.

The awards are being presented under the categories of Bollywood, sports, social work, human welfare, journalism, women’s empowerment, health, environment etc.

Dr M S Nazir is the proprietor of Gems Gate Jewellers (Astro Gems) and Al Khizar Perfume brand. He has taken initiative for the last 45 years about environment, dry waste, fisheries, boating, plastic free environment, trees and water and cleaned more than 100 lakes. He was selected for the award considering his service in various sectors.
