Mangaluru, Jan 27: The locals have filed a complaint with the deputy commissioner against illegal felling of trees in Kumki land belonging to Kotekaru Town Panchayat. Three people including the rights holder of Kumki land under survey number 301/3 have filed the complaint.

Already, the local administration had filed an objection letter on handing over Kumki land to Ullal Municipal Council through an advocate. But, before the matter is settled, the Ullal Municipal Council has felled the trees illegally. It is learnt that permission has not been gained to cut down the trees.

It is suspected that local revenue department officials and the land mafia are hand in glove. So, the complainant has urged that the district administration officials and forest department should visit the spot and provide justice.

There has been continuous cutting of tree near my place for more than 15 days. We are not sure if they have permission as they seem unapproachable. Tokur, near Tokur bus stand, 574146
