Mangaluru: Recommendations made to state govt on adopting govt schools-  Prof Doreswamy

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SK)

Mangaluru, Jan 27: Regarding the proposed policy of the state government to adop government schools for their development, the advisor to the state government on educational reforms, Prof M R Doreswamy, has made certain recommendations.

Addressing the media here on Friday, January 27, Prof Doreswamy said, "Recommendations have been made to the state government to develop the government schools. Government schools are not provided with basic requirements. Every MLA, MLC and MP should adopt at least three schools and develop them. From Grade 6 onwards, students should have access to computer education. Quality education should be provided with library facilities. The Constitution itself says that every individual should be provided with primary education."

"I have requested the chief minister and the higher education minister to direct the vice-chancellors of all universities to integrate mentoring in their academic framework which will facilitate quality education. Some of the recommendations which have been made to the state government have been implemented," he added.

"About 10% of MLAs, MLCs and MPs are adopting the schools and working on its development. Why can’t other MLAs and MLCs do that? Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has adopted the schools but nothing has happened beyond that. Some of the schools have only a handful of students. I have requested the government to close schools which have less students and provide free transport facility to those students to go to other schools.
