Mangaluru: Yenepoya School commemorates Republic Day

Mangaluru, Jan 30: As India celebrates its 74th year of being republic and the country marks and celebrates this date on which the Constitution of India came in existence, The Yenepoya School (TYS) joined in the National celebrations and commemorated Republic Day on Thursday, January 26 at the school campus.

The event marked the presence of the principal of The Yenepoya School & PU College, Uzwal Menezes, school manager, Ravi Goyal, campus coordinator, Euvet Pereira and staff and students of TYS. The event was inaugurated by presenting the guard of honour.

Pranavi Uchil and master Yenepoya Muhammad Khalis hosted the event. Students of NEP 2 lead the programme under the guidance of the teachers. They began with a prayer that was followed by the school anthem. Ira Chandy wonderfully conveyed the importance of the day to the audience. The students of NCC presented a well synchronized march past that was coupled a striking band. The national flag was unfurled by the principal and other dignitaries on the dais and the National Anthem was played anon. Amal Pudiyapura declaimed the Pledge. Students sang patriotic songs and presented some amazing dance performances. Principal, Uzwal Menezes, conveyed his wishes for the occasion.

Prizes were distributed to the achievers. Mohammad Shamil was honoured for earning a Silver at CBSE National Levels Skating Championship, Mohammed Abdul Bashith was recognized for securing bronze medal in SFI National Open Water Swimming Championship. Wafi Abdul Hakeem was felicitated for his outstanding achievements in the CBSE South Zone and National Swimming Chamionships. Talah, Nethan D'souza, Manbir Singh, Arhaan Abdul Rahim and Prasidh were honoured for their brilliant achievements in the field of Karate.

The campus reverberated with the sound of applause for the staff of TYS who emerged as the runners-up of the 12th Nehru Cup - Cricket Tournament organized by Yenepoya University. Arhan proposed the vote of thanks.

The event ended on a delightful note with distribution of sweets.
