Hyderabad, June 6 (DC): The Congress central leadership might make former CM and Rajya Sabha member, Mr Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy a Governor to make way for the Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, in the Rajya Sabha. He is also being considered for a minister of state (independent charge) post in the Union Cabinet.
According to sources, the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, will summon Mr Janardhan Reddy and convey the decision to him very soon. Though there had been talks of Mr Reddy being moved to a Raj Bhavan for some time now, nothing concrete had come out of it. However, with the formal merger of the PR into the Congress a week away and prospects of a Union Cabinet reshuffle looming large, the time seems ripe for Mr Janardhan Reddy to make way for Mr Chiranjeevi.
Sources said that the Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, has already been informed that he will be given a place in the Union Cabinet as a MoS with independent charge. By sending former CMs like Mr Janardhan Reddy and Mr K. Rosaiah to Raj Bhavans, the AICC will also be able to fill the vacancies for the gubernatorial posts with Andhra leaders as there has been no Governor from the state in the last three years.
