Dubai: Overwhelming Response to Dulsco’s Free Medical Camp

Dubai, Jun 6: More than 650 people benefited from the free medical camp organized by Dulsco Medical Clinic, in collaboration with Rashid Hospital and Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), recently. The camp targeted residents of Al Barsha, Al Quoz and Al Khail areas, with an aim to create greater nderstanding about modern lifestyle diseases and fitness in the emirate.
The free initiative, held at Dulsco Medical Clinic’s Al Quoz facility, featured doctors from the clinic along with cardiologists from Rashid Hospital and healthcare professionals from PHC.
Visitors were examined by general physicians, internal medicine specialists, dentists, cardiologists and a team of paramedics for checking for heart diseases, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), cholesterol, diabetes, dental, pulse rate, and obesity, among others. Specialist doctors also offered one-on-one consultations and nutritional and dietary counseling to the visitors.
“The health camp initiative is yet another example of our endeavor to play an active and meaningful role in the community and create better understanding of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases among the residents,” said Dr Shekhar Mehta, head of Medical Services at Dulsco Medical Clinic. “Such camps have a tremendous impact on the lives of the patients, in that the diagnosis and the nutritional advice given by the doctors help them in pursuing a healthy lifestyle,” he added.
He pointed out that the visitors, who included both low-wage earning workers as well as families, showed a high interest to learn more about various diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, etc. and were educated by the staff on effective ways to combat the diseases. Information booklets and tips on healthcare were also distributed during the camp.
