Japan Commits $1.9 bn Loan for Indian Projects


New Delhi, Jun 7 (IANS): Japan has committed Rs.8,632 crore ($1.9 billion) to fund seven projects, including the Andhra Pradesh high voltage distribution system project, the finance ministry said Monday.

With this, the loan granted under the Japan Interaction Cooperation Agency (JICA) official development assistance (ODA) loan package has reached 3,320 billion yen.

"India continues to be the highest recipient of ODA from Japan," the ministry said.

The other projects to be funded include the Madhya Pradesh transmission system modernisation project and the Bihar national highway project worth Rs.1,024 crore and Rs.1,271 crore respectively.
