Bantwal, Feb 6: The faecal sludge treatment plant constructed at a cost of Rs 82.20 lacs at Chiminiguri, Goltamajalu, Bantwal for the first time in the district under Swatcha Bharat rural mission was inaugurated here by MLA Rajesh Naik on Monday, Feb 6.
He said that all the grama panchayats should be self-reliant, stressing on waste management making it the source of revenue.
“Waste disposal will become a huge issue in the future and scientific solutions for it should be found modelled on the lines of faecal sludge treatment plants. The plant should be put to use as a model for the state,” he said.



Drinking water and hygiene department executive engineer G Narendra Babu said that the unit is constructed in a scientific manner. “Six such units including in all the taluks of the district will be constructed in the days to come,” he said.
Goltamajalu GP president Abhishek N showed the green signal to the sucking unit and inaugurated it.
Former MLA Padmanabha Kothary, Goltamajalu grama panchayat vice-president Laxmi V Prabhu, Bantwal taluk panchayat assistant director Dinesh, grama panchayat PDO Vijayashanker Alva, assistant engineer Kusha Kumar and others were present.
Bantwal taluk panchayat executive engineer Rajanna welcomed. Drinking water and hygiene department Bantwal sub-division assistant executive G K Nayak proposed a vote of thanks. Grama panchayat member Rajesh Kothary compered the programme.
