Government Warns Ramdev of Action for 'Building an Army' Remark

New Delhi, Jun 8 (IANS): The central government Wednesday said yoga guru Baba Ramdev's reported remark that he is ready to arm his supporters in self defence was "anti-national".

"It is very clear that the statement given by Baba Ramdev is anti-national and action should be taken against him," Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) V. Narayanasamy told NDTV channel.

"I would press upon the home minister (P.Chidambaram) to take action against him," he said.

In Haridwar, Ramdev said: "We will build an army of 11,000 men and women."

The yoga guru stressed that he does not favour an armed revolution but will not allow the repeat of what happened at the Ramlila Ground.

"Dedicated young men and women would be imparted both 'shaastra' (Vedic education) and 'shastra' (arms training)," said Ramdev, who continued his fast for the fifth day.

On the midnight police crackdown against Ramdev and his supporters June 5, Narayanasamy said Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his cabinet colleagues negotiated with the Ramdev and he had promised that he would end his fast.

But he continued his fast, the minister said.

"It is my belief that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has been firing from the shoulders of Baba Ramdev. It has been proved without doubt that all the Sangh Parivar people were supporting his movement," he added.

"There were around thousands of people at the maidan and those who have alleged sustaining injuries are about 29-30. What was Gandhiji's 'satyagraha'? When British told Gandhiji that he cannot fast because of prohibitory orders, he and his followers obliged. That is real satyagraha," he added.

He said Ramdev defied the police and jumped off from the stage and then escaped wearing women's clothing. "That is not satyagraha," he said.

"The government did not use force. They used only tear gas. When section 144 is imposed, people are not allowed to remain there. Therefore, it was done by the government and it was well within its right to do so," he clarified.

"Baba Ramdev, his followers and the Sangh Parivar should have obeyed the orders of the government," Narayanasamy added.

This baba is very suspicious, hidden agenda behind his move. Leave him alone let him fast untill he closes his eyes permanently. This time is not a Gandhi time. In this time leader wants to call Gandhi's name and want to eat Boondhi. Government should not show any weakness to his tricks.

Ramdev's language is crude and he is a rightist fanatic. He made a joker of himself at the Ramlila Maidan and did not even hesitate to run away, mingle with women and wear a lady's attire, what a cowardly act?
He did not even hesitate of using harsh language against our elderly PM, Mr. Manmohan Singh, who is a well respected world statesman. It was cheap of him to use foul and communally motivated language against Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. He is just an ordinary 8th class passed Haryanvi Ramakrishna Yadav who learnt the art of good yoga performance, that’s all. Like any smart businessman, he appointed expert consultants and minted money out of this Indian art as well built his empire of various businesses including his own TV Channel.
He is dangerous Govt should check and arrest his anti-national movements. His RSS backed militant language is highly condemnable.

Baba's priority should be to get rid of corrupt UPA government first. Corruption will vanish away then. Violence not the answer.

Baba Ramdev's language and threat to a popularly elected govt is unfortunate and fascist in nature.Baba is new in politics and he don't how it encircles him ! Every individual or org has it's own role to play in democracy with in constitutional boundary. If it crosses LAKSHMANA REKHA then nobody can help him. He(BABA) must be honest and free from any allegations before going to clean the system. However, threat, challenge and anti democratic moves might not bring any good to him or his followers as RULE OF LAND IS SUPREME.

I Respect Baba Ram Dev to very great extent as far as his fight is against black Money and towards eradicating corruption. But he should be nation patriotic and should not be against the nation under any circumstances. No one knows the actual fact of police attack on innocent people at Ramlila maidan. It is miscrents initially provoked Police personnels and later it turned into voilence. Being a sensible citizen we must understand the circumstances and act accordingly. We are intelligent Indians but under certain circumstances like this we become blunt and blind.
