Rahul making baseless allegations against govt: Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi, Feb 8 (IANS): BJP Lok Sabha member and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday alleged in Parliament that the Gandhi family was mired in corruption, and while themselves being out on bail, are levelling baseless allegations against the Central government.

Speaking during the motion of thanks on President's address in the Lok Sabha, Prasad, while referring to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's allegation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reportedly favouring Adani Group, said that Gandhi's comments were "false and shameful".

Gandhi was misleading the House, Prasad said.

On Tuesday, Gandhi had attacked the government over the US-based research firm Hindenburg's report on Adani Enterprises.

He had claimed that Gautam Adani's fortunes rose soon after the BJP came to power in 2014.

Prasad said, "Those out on bail and currently facing trial (in National Herald case) are levelling baseless allegations."

"Rahul Gandhi cannot digest the fact that people had twice elected Narendra Modi as the prime minister and he will again come back in 2024," Prasad said.

The BJP MP pointed out that the Adani Group has also invested in Congress-led states of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and even Left-ruled Kerala.

Prasad also countered the allegations made by Gandhi regarding Adani's assets in foreign countries, saying that even during the UPA rule, the group had made overseas investments.

Prasad further said that the Congress rule was marred by corruption in 2G spectrum allocation, Commonwealth Games, besides coal and Adarsh Housing scams.

Just by saying "Baseless allegations", you can not escape always. Answer RGs questions, if you are so transparent. Now everyone understood the meaning of "Modi hai toh mumkin hai"!!!

Give him a break. He has to be in public domain in order to be relevant, at least until election day next year He has to cook up something as Siddu has vowed to do everyday and they both get their exposure after Bharat Yatra Jodo.

Hindenburg group has rightly said that the Adani group drapes itself on false Nationalism and Patriotism. This was possible because of Chaukidar, He favored Adani in all of his business deals, he was very well aware of his shell companies, Money laundering, and insider trading, and was stock manipulating to emerge as the richest in the world. All under the guise of Patriotism . He had earlier escorted Mehul Choksi, and Nirav Modi to Davos too and they gave him the slip and escaped to foreign countries. E.D will never ever raid Adani nor SEBI nor will take action on these criminals. None of the B.J.P ministers will be scrutinized.

Sirji, where were you hibernating for such a long time? Why have you become so aggressively defensive if not guilty? Open out for JPC, and let every citizen of this great country see and feel contended that you are not guilty; we'll salute your love for the nation!!

Baseless allegations of Rahul Gandhi will get base only if a guilt free, honest and transparent govt arranges JPC in the parliament on both Adani and National Herald. Just talking to media outside the parliament doesn’t give you clean chit. We are waiting since 2014 to send all congress ministers to prison on corruption charges but none from congress has gone to prison except your own Yeddy to Parrappana Aghrahara where he was denied bail. Your own CBI tried hard to send Sonia and Rahul to prison on National Herald case but were freed on bail for lack of evidence. Guilty BJP knows very well that BJP will be exposed to the core if JPC is arranged by the centre that is why all excuses, putting hurdles and counter invalid arguments by Modi’s 40 Chors to protect him.
