New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI) The Delhi High Court today sought CBI's stand on former BJP President Bangaru Laxman's plea challenging a lower court order to try him for allegedly receiving Rs one lakh from fictitious arm dealers to recommend to the defence ministry to purchase their wares for the Army.
Justice Rajiv Shakhdher sought CBI's reply by July 13, issuing it a notice on Bangaru's petition that challenged the lower court's order.
Bangaru is accused of accepting money from fake arms dealers allegedly to recommend to the Defence Ministry to award them a contract to supply their wares to the Army.
Special Judge Vinod Kumar had earlier ordered Laxman's trial, framing charges against him under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, saying "prima facie it appears that the accused accepted money.
