Mangaluru: Manipal school Attavar hosts valedictory ceremony for students of Grade 10

Mangaluru, Feb 9: Manipal school, Attavar hosted the valedictory ceremony for the students of Grade 10, batch of 2022-23 on February 1. Dressed in their finery, the young students glowed in viva magenta saris and smart suits as they walked the red carpet.

Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) was the chief guest for the ceremony. He received the guard of honour and inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the mother candle. Dr Dilip G Naik, pro vice chancellor-(MAHE); Dr Ashita Uppoor, dean-Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru and Arun Raj Rodrigues, PTA president were also present.

Rishabh MG, the school captain sounded the formal note of welcome This was followed by the transfer of responsibilities from the school captain to the vice-captain, Muhammad Arsh.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Lt Dr M D Venkatesh asked the students to be different from others and focus on doing extraordinary things in life. Quoting a verse in Sanskrit he said that success is the cumulative results of small steps and one should not be let down by failures. He also emphasized that education should be such that it should bring humility in us.

As a token of gratitude, the school presented Lt General (Dr) M D Venkatesh, with a Ganjifa art piece by Anaha Eshak, a student of Grade 8.

The chief guest then awarded the meritorious students from the batch of 2021-22 for their outstanding results. Manipal school believes that such appreciation shall boost the morale of the students in the field of academics.

The correspondent, Dr Dilip G Naik delivered an inspirational speech to the students that will surely shed light on their future pathway of success. He gave an insight to our valedictorians that they must value their education by continuing to be inquisitive. He emphasized sincerity and dedication to the enriching learning process to make the brand name ‘Manipal’ renowned.

The dignitaries presented the students with mementos, which the young graduands will cherish as memories of their school years. It was a proud moment for 108 valedictorians who received the candle of wisdom and knowledge from the principal and their teachers while the ‘Candle Song’ was sung live by the school choir. This was symbolic of the teachers telling the students that there will be challenges along the way, but the lit candle that they are handed over will help light the path.
Nada Mariam, the school sports captain led students in an oath-taking ceremony where students promised to uphold the culture of school wherever they went.

The principal, Anuradha Shivaram addressed the gathering with a motivational speech. Students were advised, parents were appreciated and teachers were much-admired for all their efforts.

In their addresses, all the dignitaries emphasized the benefit of this batch of students, who now have the opportunity to complete their senior secondary education in their alma mater, following the upgradation of the school. This will provide numerous prospects for their future.

Phirdous Bahadur, parent of Suhan Ashraf; Govind Singh Rao, parent of Preeti Rao and Pramila Rego, parent of Adam Lobo shared their valuable thoughts through their addresses

On behalf of all teachers, Vandana Nayak, High school teacher delivered a soul stirring speech that enthralled the audience.

Mohammed Zaki, a student of Grade 9 reminisced his interactions with his seniors and thanked them for their advice and goodwill.

In their valedictorian address, Airell Sequeira, Tushali Sandeep, Daksh Kadekar, Adi Sharan Shetty, Siya Abriana Setin, Kedar Pai, Ishan Kumar, Nuha Mariam and Pratham Pai expressed their gratitude towards Manipal School for gifting lifelong friends and a treasure trove of beautiful memories. On behalf of their batch mates, the valedictorians thanked the principal and other staff members and also acknowledged the role of parents in making them and their peers into who they were.

The valedictory ceremony culminated with the 'Retrospect' video which took the students and all the audience on a trip down memory lane. The melodious school choir rendered the farewell song before the programme came to a close with the vote of thanks delivered by Aruna.

Students of Grade 9 Rishabh Naik, Ira Jain and Meenakshi Unnithan compered the programme.
