Wrong to say 'Om' and 'Allah' are one: Barelvi cleric

Bareilly, Feb 13 (IANS): Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, president of All India Muslim Jamaat, has said that it is wrong to say that 'Om' and 'Allah' are the same.

In a statement, the cleric said that Islam was a relatively new religion in India while Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism were much older.

"To equate Islam with Hinduism is factually and historically incorrect. Islam spread in India was Mughal rule spread and Sufis were mainly responsible for it. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Khwaja Nazimuddin Chishti in Delhi, Masood Ghazi in Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, Maulana Naqshbandi in Bangladesh helped in the spread of Islam," he said.

The cleric further said that Allah and Om are two words with different meaning.

"Om is made up of three letters that refer to Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh while Allah refers to an entity that is pious and pure and has no relative," he explained.

    Veg. and non veg. both are food; but cannot be called both are same. There is only one Creator, who is called the GOD Almighty. If not mistaken, in Hindi; the same Creator Almighty, is called Parameshwar.

    He is absolutely right. In Arabic 'Al' is prefix 'Lah' means Moon .

    You hit at the bulls eye. Al-Lah was the moon God worshiped (along with the many Gods) by the desert Arabs for centuries. When the concept of One God was conceived, all other Gods were let go and only the moon God remained. AL is used for respect, and LAH is the name of the God. Just Google Lah and see the results.

    If Om and Allah are one and the same than why non-muslims are called Kafir. It means they are failed in there efforts for that reason equalling now with one another. If Om and Allah are one and same..let muslims read quran with OM of all ayaths.

    We slowly bring all your jamaat people under 'One Umbrella' and try to teach what is religion from the beginning. When Madani told first person on this earth Adam pabded in so called Ceylon once part of India and Eva in Saudi Arabia. How did Adam find out Eva...is it thru GPS system. He also told India is first Islamic country. Do jewish/christians/catholics agree with his view as Adam landed in India first.

    It can't be in ur lifetime or any bodies life time coz this Religion is preserved by Almighty Himself. Many powerful tyrants tried but failed humiliated, so don't try to day dream with your current ruler, they are nothing in front of those whp failed miserably in the past. Religion Islam is not something a cock and bull story which can be tuned or worshipped to any cock and bull. Its fundamentals are so strong that, there are many followers of it whp will shun their blood but never compromise in it's fundamental belief and I am one among them and I pray I be one among them.
