Karachi Hotels Owe Rs150 Million to Government

Karachi, Jun 10 (IANS): Nearly 400 "unlicensed" hotels in the southern Pakistani port city of Karachi have not paid taxes worth Rs.150 million to the government, a minister has said.

The taxes owed by the 388 unlicensed establishments "would be recovered by hook or by crook", provincial law minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro was quoted as saying by the Pakistan Press International (PPI) news agency.

The minister spoke to members of the Pakistan Hotels Association and listened to the problems faced by them.

He asked the association members to invest in new sites like Gorakh Hill, a tourist attraction in northwest Sindh.
