Mangaluru, Feb 15: A Kishore Kumar Kodgi, president and the board of management of CAMPCO Ltd., Mangaluru on behalf of the entire arecanut fraternity is grateful to the union government for having hiked the minimum import price from Rs 251 to Rs351.
Based on perpetual representations from CAMPCO and other like-minded cooperatives like MAMCOS, TUMCOS, TSS to the prime minister of India and the agriculture & commerce ministries; the government of India basis the hike in cost of cultivation of arecanut and in order to stabilize the domestic market have revised the minimum import price.
In the recently concluded CAMPCO golden jubilee celebrations, A Kishore Kumar Kodgi, president had represented to Amit Shah, union minister for home affairs and cooperation for hiking the minimum import price of arecanut. Shobha Karandlaje, union minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare too had announced the recommendation to the commerce ministry for hike in the minimum import price. The request made on behalf of the arecanut farmers by the president has been favourably considered by the union government.
CAMPCO and the entire Arecanut fraternity expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman; Piyush Goel, Narendra Singh Tomar, Shobha Karandlaje and Karnataka ministers Araga Jnanendra, MP and MLAs and Manjappa Hosabale, a cooperative Veteran and Ramesh Vaidya, Sahahakara Bharathi National Samrakshak, who have all helped in the revision of the notification on minimum import price to Rs 351.
Vice president Shankarnarayana Bhat K, managing director H M Krishna Kumar, directors Krishna Prasad Madthila, Raghavendra Bhat Kedila, and Jayaprakash T K, general manager Reshma Mallya and assistant general manager Govinda Bhat were present.
