Mumbai (RBI), Feb 18: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais took oath as the 20th Governor of Maharashtra at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Saturday, Feb 18.
Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala administered the oath of office to Governor Ramesh Bais. The Governor read his oath in Marathi.
Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde congratulated the Governor by presenting a bouquet of flowers after the swearing in ceremony.
Earlier, state chief secretary Manukumar Srivastava read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by President Droupadi Murmu appointing Ramesh Bais as the Governor of Maharashtra.
The Swearing in Ceremony began and concluded with the national anthem played by the ceremonial police band. A guard of honour was presented by the Indian Navy to the Governor soon after the oath taking ceremony.
Spouse of the Governor Rambai Bais, union minister of State Ramdas Athawale, Maharashtra's minister for tourism and women and child welfare Mangal Prabhat Lodha, speaker of Maharashtra legislative assembly Rahul Narwekar, Lokayukta Justice (retd) Vidyasagar Kanade, chairman of Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission Justice (retd) K K Tated, people's representatives, secretaries of various departments, senior police officers and invitees were present.
