CJA Condemns Journalist Dey's Murder


New Delhi, June 12 (IANS) The Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) has condemned the murder of Jyotindra Dey, a Mumbai journaliast who specialised in reporting crime and exposing the underworld's activities.

It took serious note of the preliminary probe indicating a possible role of the underworld. Police officers have said the murder may be the handiwork of an organised crime syndicate and executed by professionals.

Dey had done many reports on Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan, the fugitive underworld dons of Mumbai.

Dey, known among friends as "Commander Dey", worked for a number of publications. His last asssignment was as Editor, Special Investigations, MiD Day, a Mumbai tabloid.

He authored "Khallaas - an A to Z Guide to the Underworld" and "Zero Dial - The Dangerous World of Informers".

The CJA has demanded prompt and effective action by police.
