Bantwal, Feb 21: A man, resident of Veerakambha village, lost Rs 9.79 lac as he responded to an overseas employment opportunity, advertisement for which, appeared on Facebook.

Nadchalu Rajesh N Alva is the one who was fleeced by an online fraudster. Alva is employed in a company at Bengaluru and was working from home. As his salary was low, he had contacted the WhatsApp number that was displayed on an advertisement for jobs on Facebook and inquired about the job.

Later, Alva sent his bio-data through an application. He paid to various bank accounts of strangers through ATM cash deposit machine, Phone Pay and PayTM, Rs 9.79 lac as visa processing charge, customs clearance and other fees.

Rajesh came to know of the fraud only at the end. A case in this connection is filed in CEN police station in Dakshina Kannada.
