United Airlines to Create 1,300 New Jobs in Chicago

Chicago, June 14 (PTI) Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has announced that United Airlines will bring 1,300 new jobs to Chicago in an expansion of the airline's operations in the city.

"I promised to foster a business climate that attracts and retains the greatest companies in the nation," Emanuel was quoted as saying in a press release.

"I am happy to announce that United has substantially increased their commitment to the city of Chicago by bringing these jobs to the hardest working people in America," he added.

Emanuel made the announcement on June 10 alongside United Airlines President and CEO Jeff Smisek on the tenth floor of the Willis Tower, where many of the United Airlines employees will be working.
