CBI to Seize DB Realty's Equity Worth Rs 200 Crore

New Delhi, Jun 14 (IANS): The process to seize the Rs.200 crore bribe allegedly routed from DB Realty through Kusegaon Realty and Cineyug to Kalaignar TV in the 2G spectrum allocation kickback case has been initiated, the Central Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday.

"The CBI has so far not seized the alleged bribe money but now has started the process and will write to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) soon to attach the property or equity worth around Rs.200 crore," said a CBI official.

The CBI had alleged that DMK MP Kanimozhi - daughter of party chief M. Karunanidhi - and Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar were part of a criminal conspiracy that led DB Realty to pay Rs.200 crore to Kalaignar TV, controlled by members of Karunanidhi's family.

The CBI in its supplementary charge-sheet had alleged that Swan Telecom's Shahid Balwa had allegedly routed the Rs.200 crore bribe through Kusegaon Realty and Cineyug to Kalaignar TV. The CBI also said that Kalaignar TV had returned the money to Cineyug.

The CBI has also said that they have also frozen all the personal accounts of the 14 accused, including former communications minister A. Raja, involved in the case but not the private limited companies' accounts.
