Mangaluru: SAC holds Entrepreneurship Development Programme

Mangaluru, Feb 28: The department of Economics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a one-day programme on Entrepreneurship Development on February 28 in L F Rasquinha Hall of LCRI Block.

G Giridhar Prabhu, chairman of Achal Group of Industries, Mangaluru and an illustrious alumnus of the College was the chief guest. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, principal of the College presided over the programme. Dr Charles Furtado, director of Admin Block, Dr Priya Shetty, HOD of Economics, Praswin and Pooja, the student co-ordinators were present on the dais.

The programme was symbolically inaugurated by watering the plant by the dignitaries. Principal, Dr Praveen Martis in his presidential remarks said that the aim of the higher educational institutions is to create knowledge among students in different areas. This programme creates a path for students to know the life experience of the eminent entrepreneurs so that they can adopt the challenges in the field of entrepreneurship. He urged the students to find the innovative ideas in building entrepreneurial development. He suggested the students to opt risk taking ability to become successful entrepreneurs.

There were three sessions during the programme. G Giridhar Prabhu was the resource person for the I Session. He spoke on the theme 'I do what I do'. Dr Charles Furtado moderated the session. Capt John Prasad Menezes, CeO, Menezes and Associates and Eulalia DSouza, proprietor of Lia Travels and Tours were the resource persons for the II Session. They spoke on the theme 'Life Experience of an Entrepreneur'. Dr Priya Shetty moderated the session. Thilak Desingh S G, Founder and CEO, Used Book Factory, Andrea Gonsalves, co-founder, Market Bird and Mohammed Faheem, co-founder, Sorbete Popsicles were the resource persons for the III Session. They spoke on the theme 'Dare to Fall'. Dr Suresh Poojary, Dean for Research and Innovation, SAC moderated the session.

Nishan, III BSc compered the programme. Praswin welcomed the gathering. Pooja proposed the vote of thanks.
