Accident in Meghalaya Claims Seven Lives


Shillong, Jun 17 (IANS): Seven people were killed instantly Friday when their vehicle fell into a deep gorge in Meghalaya's Jaintia Hills district, police said.

The accident took place in Tongseng village, about 140 km from Shillong, police officer Willy Muksor said.

"The dead included two women and a minor girl," Muksor told IANS by telephone. The vehicle was proceeding to Guwahati from a cement plant in Assam's Karimganj district.
