Mangaluru, Mar 9: Yenepoya Specialty Hospital, Kodialbail, jointly with the department of community medicine of Yenepoya Medical College (a unit of Yenepoya Deemed University), is organising a Diabetes Checkup Camp on Sunday, March 12 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Public Health Centre, Azizzudin Road (Ward No. 44), Bunder, Mangaluru.
Diabetes is one of the most common health issues in society today. If diabetes is not treated, it can lead to life threatening conditions like stroke, heart attack and kidney dysfunction. Early detection and treatment are the best ways to control diabetes and prevent long-term health damage. Weight loss, blurred vision, wounds that heal slowly, swelling of the skin, becoming constantly hungry, and swelling of the gums are some of the common initial indicators of diabetes. People having these symptoms should consult a doctor for a medical assessment. It is also advisable for anyone over 40 to routinely undergo medical assessment to enable early diagnosis of the disease.
The diabetes checkup camp organised by Yenepoya will undertake full-fledged screening for the early detection of diabetes and also provide expert advice regarding its treatment. Doctor's consultation, GRBS, HBA1c and RBS blood tests will be available at the camp. A privilege card will also be issued for further treatment. Dr Srikrishna Acharya, an endochrinologist and specialist doctor, will be available for consultation during the camp.
The camp is open to the public. Anyone may attend and benefit from the camp.
