BJP getting rattled by series of lectures: Tharoor & Gogoi defend Rahul

New Delhi, Mar 9 (IANS): The Congress on Thursday while defending Rahul Gandhi's lectures in the UK attacked the BJP, saying that the party was rattled.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, "It is embarrassing to see the entire BJP machinery including senior ministers, media channels and unofficial spokespersons getting rattled by a series of lectures by @RahulGandhi. All the Indians living in the UK who have attended these events have been extremely positive."

The BJP has continued its attack on Rahul Gandhi while Congress has defended his statement on every issue.

Shashi Tharoor has too defended Rahul Gandhi's statement on foreign policy, "What's wrong w/what @rahulGandhi said? That foreign policy must serve national self-interest; our overriding priority is the domestic transformation the nation is undergoing, so our foreign policy should support that. That's essentially one of my own arguments in "Pax Indica"," he said in a tweet.

Ravi Shankar Prasad slammied Rahul Gandhi during a press conference at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, had said, "What happens to you when you visit abroad? All dignity, all decency, democratic shame, you forget everything. Now, when the people of the country neither listen to you nor understand you, you go abroad and lament that India's democracy is in danger.

Prasad further stated, "Rahul Gandhi is saying that speaking is not allowed in India but he kept on speaking a lot in Bharat Jodo Yatra, abusing the PM. He gave a long speech in the Parliament itself. Now what can be done in this that the people of India neither listen to him nor understand him."

During his recent visit to London, Rahul Gandhi said at an event that the "US and Europe are not doing enough to restore democracy in India" as they are "getting trade and money" from the country.

The whole BJP Machinery including the Government are feeling the heat after the Bharat Jodo Yatra and now the ongoing lectures in the UK. If they considered RG irrelevant they certainly would not have gone hammer and tongs at him. Any lay person with a reasonable understanding of the English language, would never have felt he is betraying the Nation in any way - all depends on the inference one draws from his speeches. Neither his body language nor his responses to pertinent questions showed him anti national. On the contrary speeches on foreign soil by NaMo - insult ing the Congress and its leaders have actually made us cringe. That said, what RG said is nothing new, the world is watching and the International media have covered a lot of un democratic things happening in the recent past,

BJP is actually rattled after RaGa's successful Bharat Jodo Yatra. For congress there may not be any political dividends from yatra, but it has gained public and international attention. That is why both BJP and paid media is following him like shadow everywhere he goes. Then comes the question did RaGa, said any single word that is against the interest of India. If someone who heard him fully, he hasn't. But, someone who follows only whatsup university, they may have heard 100different diviations. Finally, in journalist meet in London, one aged gentleman told RaGa, he worked with Nehru and Indira and has highest reverence and respect for them. But finds RaGa speech in cambridge disturbing and defaming nation. RaGa asks him, have you heard the lecture. The old man says No. Entire crowd laughs at that old man. Maybe now kicking his own foot for being in international fame, as silly.
