Islamabad, June 18 (IANS) Over a 100 militants attacked a check post late Friday night near Pakistan's Peshawar city, Xinhua reported.
About 120 militants attacked a check post in Sarband area, about 30 km southwest of Peshawar at about 11.00 p.m. (local time), said a source on phone to Xinhua.
The exchange of fire between the militants and police is still going on there, said media reports, adding more police have been called in to reinforce the check post under attack.
The check post, located near the tribal area of Khyber Agency which borders Afghanistan, often comes under attack by militants, local media reports added.
Details about the militants and casualties were not immediately available.
