Mangaluru: SJEC team AMIE's pregnancy health predictive model ranks top 5 in 'Anveshana 2023'

Media Release

Mangaluru, Mar 11: Team AMIE from St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), has secured a spot among the top 5 projects in the Karnataka edition of Anveshana 2023. The predictive model developed by the team that anticipates pregnancy health risks is placed fourth and has received Rs 15,000 as a cash prize. The grand finale, held at Sikshakara Bhavana, Bengaluru, from March 2–4, was organized by Synopsys and the Agasthya International Foundation. Anveshana has undergraduate engineering students as well as students from government and aided schools working together under the mentorship of the engineering college to develop proofs of concept or prototypes that are the culmination of engineering and science concepts.

Team AMIE developed an IoT wearable device, 3D printed at the SJEC-AICTE IDEA Lab, that collects vital information of pregnant woman. The model considers blood pressure, sugar level, heartbeat, sleep cycle, BMI, and medical history, to forecast potential health risks. The Amie app also connects patients with gynecologists and counselors, enabling them to book appointments online. The automated alerts and scheduling capabilities of the app facilitate healthcare support initiation in high-risk cases.

A Spoorthi, Ishika, Jenisha D’Souza, and Jeethesh D’Souza from SJEC's final-year Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) program lead Team AMIE, along with Shravya and Pooja from St Raymond's High School in Vamanjoor. The team is mentored by Glenson Toney, assistant pofessor, Department of ECE, and Training coordinator, Training and Placement Cell, SJEC and Dr DeepaKangal, Gynaecologist, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru.

Team AMIE is incubated through the India-Netherlands Business Circle Bangalore Seedbrains 2022 and featured among the top 75 business ideas at the 14th edition of the Manthan Business Plan Competition 2022, organized by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The team had earlier won the Best B-Plan competition of SJEC Josh 2022 as well as Zephyr 2022, organized by the department of MBA, SJEC.

The management of SJEC has congratulated team AMIE on their significant achievement and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.
