Mangaluru, Mar 11: Headmistress Sr Vinisha Lobo, St Gerosa High School, Jeppu is conferred with doctorate. She defended her PhD thesis on February 25 entitled – 'Women in Diaspora: A study of Select Fiction by Kamila Shamsie'. She carried out the research work under the guidance of professor Ravishankar Rao, department of English, Mangalore University.
Sr. Vinisha hails from Barkur of Udupi district. She is the proud daughter of the late William Lobo and Mary Lobo of Hosala, Barkur of Udupi district. Her two brothers Fr Vishal Lobo and Fr Vijay Lobo are the priests of Udupi and Mangalore diocese respectively.
She is the product of Maryknoll School, Barkur. After the completion of her SSLC studies from her native place, in order to become a religious, she joined the religious Congregation of Sisters of Charity, She completed her religious studies from Belvedere and graduated from St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.
She began her teaching career at St Joseph’s High School Sakleshpur. The then provincial Sr Matilda Monteiro in the year 2017 permitted her to pursue PhD in English literature. Sr Vinisha obliged to the decision of the Provincial and enrolled for PhD at Mangalore University as a part-time research scholar. Prof Ravishankar Rao of English Department was her guide. She was fortunate enough to have such an experienced person as her guide. During the period of her research studies she had to travel to the various Universities of Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi. She didn’t shy away to approach anyone who could be of help. She has published 8 research articles in the national and international journals. In spite of all the hurdles, being the Headmistress of the school, Sr. Vinisha has accomplished a great feat. She remains grateful to the entire congregation of Sisters of Charity, provincial Sr Irene Menezes, former provincial Sr Matilda Monteiro, St Gerosa, Community sisters and staff of St Joseph’s School, Sakleshpur and St Gerosa High school. She will be conferred with PhD convocation certificate on March 15 at the 41st convocation of Mangalore University.
