Chandigarh, Jun 18 (PTI) Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU) today signed an agreement with three private companies in Chhattisgarh and Uttrakhand to accelerate its improved seed production programme for maize and rice.
HAU Vice-Chancellor K S Khokhar signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for production of maize hybrids HQPM-1 and HQPM-5 with Akash Seeds and another company in Chhatisgarh, and for rice hybrid HKRH-1 with Bhartiya Beej Nigam of Uttrakhand.
In lieu of these MoUs, the HAU would get license fee of Rs 23.75 lakh, an official spokesman said.
Khokhar said to ensure food security in the nation, the varsity was working hard that all hybrids of high yielding, early maturing and disease resistant varieties of crops, fruits and vegetables and useful technologies generated by the scientists may be available to all Indian states.
