Mangaluru, Mar 13: Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre celebrated the International Women's Day with a theme 'DigitAll: Innovation and technology for gender equality' on March 8.
The guests of honour for the programme were ACP Geetha Kulkarni, assistant commissioner of police (Traffic); Vathika Pai, proprietor of Vathika International Travels, and Poornima Yathish Rai, Yakshaghana artiste. Presided by A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, director Srinivas Group of Colleges and Prof A Mitra S Rao, secretary A Shama Rao Foundation Mangaluru on the dais.
Quality executive Clerissa B Fernandes welcomed the gathering. While congratulating all the women employees on the occasion of Women’s Day, she explained the significance of women’s contribution in all spheres.
The function was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the women present on the Dias.
ACP Geetha Kulkarni, in her key note address congratulated the lady members of Srinivas Hospital on the occasion of International Women’s Day. She said the main objective of celebration of Women’s day is to create awareness about the significant contribution of the women to the society and to emphasize the importance of the rights and honour of women in our society. She stressed on the various penal codes that are available for women safety in women-specific and women-related legislation.
On this occasion, guest of honour Vathika Pai, proprietor of Vathika International Travels congratulated all the women staff of Srinivas Hospital and explained the importance of equal opportunity for women in work sector.
Poornima Yathish Rai, Yakshaghana artiste, gave a talk on equal representation of women in the field of art and culture. She emphasized on the fact that art does not discriminate on the basis of gender.
All the ladies on the dais were honouredwith a memento and gift.
A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, director Srinivas Group of Colleges Managaluru and Prof A Mitra S Rao, secretary A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru also addressed the gathering and expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the women staff of the organization for their selfless service.
Dr Agnes Jain Rose compered and Dr Jewel Janice Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
Freeda D’Souza, manager (Operations), Prof Arpana Bhatta L - management representative, Dr Anitha Sequeira - professor, HOD of general medicine, and professor Nethravathi - associate dean and HOD of computer science along with different departments HODs and staffs were also present.
