Srirangam (TN), Jun 19: This may perhaps be the 'thanksgiving' gift to the people of her constituency who voted for her during the recent assembly elections to make her the CM of Tamil Nadu.
Visiting her constituency for the first time after elections, Jayalalithaa, the 63-year-old AIDMK supremo launched Rs 200-crore worth of welfare projects for its people.
While launching the project, she did not forget to come down heavily on her political enemy, former CM of TN and DMK chief M Karunandhi. She said that the state administration under him was a disaster, and she needs considerable time to rebuild it. "But we are quickly bringing back everything on track. It's a big challenge," she said.
Taking a dig at DMK for trying to bribe voters, she said the people had upheld democracy against those who had tried to fix a value for their votes.
"You proved your value and your votes were invaluable. You defeated money power and shattered dreams of those who thought they could sail through using money power," she said.
