Lucknow, Jun 20: The crime rates in Uttar Pradesh seems to be accelerating with the nearing of assembly election in the state. A case of rape, third in the last two days has been reported from the state.
A 30-year-old woman was set on fire after allegedly being raped in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. The report reached the media on Monday June 20 morning as the incident had occurred on Sunday June 19 evening.
However, UP police have denied the allegation, as usual, saying there was no attempt to rape, but only to rob off valuables from the woman. The police atrocities too have reached a high in the state with no FIR being filed in this regard until the last reports came in.
On Saturday, two rape cases were reported from the state that included alleged rape on a minor, who was also stabbed in the eye for resisting rape. In another earlier case, a dailit girl was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a man in Ranipur, Beladi village.
