New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) The Supreme Court Monday issued a notice to the Bharat Swabhiman Trust, asking it to respond to the affidavit filed by Delhi Police Commssioner B.K.Gupta on the crackdown on yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his supporters earlier this month.
An apex court bench of Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice A.K. Patnaik asked Acharya Virendra Vikram, president of the Bharat Swabhiman Trust, to respond to the affidavits filed by Gupta, Home Secretary G.K. Pillai and the Delhi chief secretary.
The Delhi Police commissioner in his affidavit Friday said that Ramdev and his supporters were removed from the Ramlila Ground on the night of June 4-5 as the police had intelligence inputs that there were security threats to the yoga guru.
He had also said that Ramdev was asked to move out as prohibitory orders banning any gathering of five or more people had been imposed in the area, but instead the yoga guru began protesting.
