The accident took place at around 12.15 pm.

Satish Gowda, the driver of truck was approaching Nanthoor circle junction from Pumpwell driving the vehicle in a negligent manner when he collided with a scooter.

As the truck hit the scooter, both Samuel and Bhoomika fell on the road and the wheels of the tipper passed on their heads. Though they were rushed to Wenlock hospital, the doctor declared them brought dead.

Also respect all drivers while driving time. Because they al have family members. And while we driving we use common sense. Don't rashes, computation with their driving and follow the rules regulations on RTO. Don't blame anybody. Safe driving is very important of human life. So herby I request you all please drive safely.

Trafic signals in Mangalore are not activated. Everyday there will be a chaos at signals/roundabout. Very difficult to look around and drive as vehicles come in all directions.

I have been driving for the past 23 years in Dubai and never had an accident ,India and most parts of the world and have noticed that scooters /bikers have a very haphazard way of riding in Mangalore. There is absolutely no consideration for cars and trucks here in Mangalore. I have seen very old people riding activas at 20 kmph on the fast lane and refuse to give way to bus, cars or trucks even on the highway. I understand that Mangalore roads are not the best but please people use your mirrors and common sense when riding/driving here or any part of the world. Truck drivers usually can't see a scooter/bike or small car because of the height difference. But I have seen scooters ,bikes and small cars stick close to trucks and buses in Mangalore. Also truck drivers drive long distances and are frustrated and fatigued and can cause errors in judgement. If people drive the way they drive in Mangalore in Dubai , 100% their licenses will be suspended for sure.

Our roads were designed so bad that its luck that's keeping you agile each day. I could point out at least 10 locations in our surathkal - bc road highway. 1. If you are travelling towards udupi, after sadhanand restaurant, vehicle come on the wrong side of the road. This could be only explained by sheer stupidity. 2. When joining the road if we have to travel from mrpl road towards mangalore, I have to drive on the wrong side of the road. After which I would have to join the right track by joining the main left side track, where I have no idea what's coming on that road. A death trap for sure. 3. Hosabettu divider path. This is another death trap. 4. Kulai junction. Who designs a junction on a highway, anyways another death trap. 5. Baikampady. Just before the town, there is a cut in the divider for vechles to turn. Another death trap. 6. Rail way bridge. On the mangalore surathkal track the road narrows, so another death trap. 7. Recently I have seen cattle crossing signs on the stretch that covers industrial zone and the port. What were the authorities thinking? Where are the hindu groups that at so caring about cattle? Cant you people at least arrange to take them to gowshalas? 8. Kotarra junction. I kid you not, there is a lane marking for the vehicle to drive on the opposite side of the road. 9. Ramp to join the service road near dmart. We need to slow down the vehicle so abruptly that there is a scope for rear end collision. 10. KPT junction. Roundabouts are the kryptonite for indian people. Their brain goes offline just by looking at them. 11. Padua junction. Only thing that can explain it is that we have brilliant people designing our roads. 12. Nantoor. Like I said before roundabouts are kryptonite of us indians. What gets me more flabbergasted is the out traffic police directing the vehicles ( which should not be needed in the first place, if we had little brains) literally dont know what they are doing. Some times they let all the traffic in.

The truck was neither speeding nor hit the scooter. From the first pic itself it's clear that the truck was on right place and angle, but the scooter seems to be taking right turn from left track. If the truck had hit it, it would have fallen to left, not come under the wheels

All the truck drivers in Mangaluru need to be put behind bars. Everyday the transport buses and trucks cause a lot of panic and hinderence on the roads of mangalore. The police do not stop or even tell them not to overspend. Each and everyday I drive on the roads of mangalore and fear an accident. Each and every driver of bus and truck has to overtake and almost hit us every time. It is a panic attack everyday. ITS NOT AT ALL SURPRISING THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN. The traffic police should be on alert at least now. But as I was driving after this accident took place still police have not learnt to stop these idiotic drivers from driving so very very rashly. When I came from Bangalore few months back and had to reside here everything in mangalore is good except the driving sense of big vehicles. We had to keep our two wheelers locked and four wheel also is at risk when we r driving

I was in the accident spot from the exact minute the accident took place. That junction needs permanent solution. just last month also one husband and wife lost life. And regarding thrashing the driver, when we went to stop the public started hitting us back too. You think the driver purposely did it ? Such a foolish illiterate public. They are worried about the two lives lost there and they were in plan of killing the driver too. If it had happened by the private bus, it makes sense because they do this racing competition on road. But least are the police bothered because they are only there to collect fines from vehicles because their number plate is faulty and some stupid reasons. We need a permanent solution for nanthoor junction road and traffic management.

Our DC, POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT,,POLICE COMMISSIONER, MP AND MLA are responsible for this. If these persons can't control one junction means, what duty they are doing. First of all our Traffic Police must book and arrest those ministers and politicians who are going in such a speed violating Traffic rules, then only this system can be controlled by our traffic Police .No use of giving any suggestions, All are illiterate and uneducated Government staff.

Construction of flyovers along the highway was initiated by single engine in the first decade of 2000. Frequent accidents had been taking place in this spot since the beginning of 1990s or earlier. I remember deaths have occurred even with the collusion of 2 bikes in this junction. So the single engine should have first constructed flyover at this junction when the volume of traffic started increasing in the city. Instead they started construction at places where flyovers were not actually necessary such as Surathkal, Kulur and BC Road. Perhaps the stakes had been lucrative in such spots. And now the double engines are in a quagmire when it comes to releasing funds (minus 40%) for completion.

Most of the post here are politically colored and not "JUST AN ACCIDENT" News as it's failure of administration to resolve the ever increasing accidents and bottleneck of traffic at Nanthoor. A simple 1km flyover at next junction (pumpwell) took a decade with faulty and shady work. Kuloor bridge is in limbo....so on. I don't know how many lives have to be lost before an actually smart solution comes up. I avoid Nanthoor as much as possible for my commute either i take a longer kankanady- pumpwell- padil- kulshekar route or KPT-Bondel vamanjoor route. And i suggest same for others too

Very sad. I was about to buy an apartment in Nanthoor. Just backtracked looking at the traffic. No free right or left turns to reduce the congestion. No flyover plans. 40% sarkar in 'ghor nidra avasta'. If it was something to with Hijab and issues related to minorities all MP's, MLA's and the useless cheddis will be on the forefront giving 3rd class comments. No temporary plan, no permanent plan. Stop heavy vehicles playing to other states during the day time. That is the least the traffic police can do.
