Mangaluru: Women's Day celebration held at Holy Family Church, Omzoor

Mangaluru, Mar 19: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Sthree Sanghatan of Omzoor parish, organized Women’s Day celebration. The celebration began with solemn Eucharistic celebration which was celebrated by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, parish priest. Sthree Sanghatan, led the liturgy.

A get together was organized in the Sabha Bhavan.The programme began with a prayer song led by Vinaya Braggs and group. Janet Cutinho, president of Shtree Sanghatan, Omzoor unit welcomed the gathering.

Fr Alwyn D’Cunha in his presidential speech stressed on the importance of family life, mental and physical health of women. He also stated the difficulties a woman or a girl has to undergo even in today’s world. He also stressed on the importance of mental health in today’s present world which is filled with worries and stressful life. He also stated that women are an integral part of a family.

Thereafter, various cultural and fun activities were also organized. A special women’s day song led by Janet Cutinho and group was sung wishing all the women present. Delphin Dsouza, sung a melodious song. Catholic Sabha, Omzoor Unit gave a wonderful dance performance. Meera D’Souza, made the crowd laugh with her jokes. Dafny Lewis, conducted various spot games.

Lilly Mascarenhas, an elderly active participant of today’s women’s day celebration distributed the prizes for the winners of spot games. Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, parish priest, Arthur Dsouza, vice-president of parish pastoral council, Dafny Lewis, secretary of parish pastoral council, Sr Cynthia Saldanha, superior St Charles Convent, Janet Cuntinho, president of Sthree Sanghatan, Milli Dsouza, secretary of Sthree Sanghatan were present on the Dais. Milli D’Souza, rendered the vote of thanks.

The programme concluded with a baila dance. About 100 women of the parish actively participated in the programme.
