New Delhi, Jun 22: The all party meeting for drafting Lokpal Bill is scheduled to be held here on July 3. Lok Sabha speajer Meera Kumar announced this today in New Delhi.
Prime minister Manmohan Singh in a meeting with his ministerial colleagues on Tuesday June 21 discussed the government Civil Society meeting minutes. It is learnt that the views to exclude the prime minister from the ambit of the Lokpal have not been supported by the DMK.
The Lokpal Bill Drafting Committee is supposed to have 11 members who will serve as an ombudsman and combat corruption among politicians and bureaucrats. Since there are about eight different points between the activists and ministers, both the sides have their own versions of the Bill.
The major point of difference is based on the investigation of the prime minister on corruption charges.
