Lucknow, Jun 24: Deputy chief medical officer Dr Y S Sachan, who was found hanging in a Lucknow jail and whose family had demanded a CBI probe into his death, was cremated on Friday June 24.
The family had insisted that it was a case of murder, contrary to what the police claimed as suicide. The postmortem report stated that there were nine injury marks on the body which suggested that Sachan was probably murdered.
Demanding an answer from the government, his family members had earlier said that they would not cremate Sachan till a CBI probe was ordered into his death. Now, however, the family plans to move the Supreme Court to ask for a CBI inquiry, sources said. As this would take time, it was decided to cremate the body.
The police handed over a copy of the postmortem report to the family, as per the directions of the High Court, after which the family members agreed for the cremation.
Speaking to reporters, Sachan's brother reiterated that Sachan's family would continue to fight for him till the guilty are brought to book.
