After Six Years, India Removed from Human Trafficking Watch List

Washington, Jun 28: The US state government has upgraded India to Tier 2 countries list thereby removing it from the human trafficking 'Watch List' after six years.

The 'Watch List' includes countries that have a prominant number of human trafficking cases or if there is a failure to provide evidence in efforts made to combat it.

Whereas Tier 2 is for countries that are making significant effort in combating the menace even thought they do not fully comply with the minimum standards of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act's (TVPA).

The state government in its report said that India has been making significant efforts to fight the menace even though the Indian government does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking.
