Udupi: Stringent action against illegal liquor sellers – DC Kurma Rao

Udupi, Apr 7: District election officer and deputy commissioner Kurma Rao warned of strict action against those who sell liquor in illegal manner as the election code of conduct is in force in the district.

Rao was speaking at a meeting with president and office bearers of wine merchant association and chamber of commerce that was held at the Rajathadri DC office auditorium on Thursday.

Rao said, “All liquor sellers have to manage the sales and stock details every day and provide specific information to the excise department. If any difference is found and if the liquor is sold in places which are not specified, stringent action will be taken against the licence holders.

“All industrialists must ensure that their godowns are not used for storing any illegal goods or materials. Daily sales of wholesale items should be recorded properly and provided to the concerned officials in case of need,” he said.

SP Akshay M Hake, additional SP Veena B N, official of election expenses supervision committee and chief accountant of zilla panchayat Prasanna Bhakta were present.

Master trainer Ashok Kamath gave information on the parameters instructed by the election commission.
